The City of Muntinlupa is doubling down on fake news by teaching government employees to fight disinformation.
The Muntinlupa Public Information Office (PIO) recently held a Truth Advocates Workshop on February 1 at the Alabang Central Market Conference Room with civil service employees with the aim of getting the public properly informed.
According to PIO Acting Head Noemi Gonzales, City Government employees will serve as “Truth Advocates who will be point persons in the activities of the departments of City Hall, as sources of information, and as Content Creators.”
Topics discussed in the workshop include basic writing, photography, social media management, and the role of employees as truth advocates. Gonzales also added that civil service employees are partners with the City Government in bringing accurate information to the public. This is also in line with Mayor Ruffy Biazon’s active policy for City Hall employees in combating disinformation.
