Northcutt makes ONE return
at ‘Fight Night 10,’ takes on Mujtaba

“Super” Sage Northcutt’s path to redemption is now clear, as his return to the ONE Championship Circle finally has a date.

Sage Northcutt

Northcutt re-enters the organization after a four-year layoff when he takes on Ahmed “Wolverine” Mujtaba in a three-round lightweight MMA bout at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on May 6 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

By marking his return to the U.S., “Super” gets a chance to salvage his once-promising prodigious career after showcasing his top-level karate skills in various regional promotions.

He once fought for the UFC and had himself a solid showing, winning six of his eight bouts and taking home three straight victories. Then, he decided to transition to ONE Championship, but his legacy hit a wall.

Northcutt faced striking ace Cosmo Alexander, who had other plans for him, knocking him out seconds into their match, sending him to the operating room for nine hours to repair the eight facial fractures he incurred.

With the injury behind him, and COVID restrictions a thing of the past, Northcutt looks to live up to his potential. However, he’ll face another dangerous opponent in his return.

The American Kickboxing Academy product in Mujtaba has been on a roll, decimating his past two opponents as he looks to put Pakistan on the map in MMA. Mujtaba knocked out Rahul Raju before catching Abraoo Amorim in a triangle-choke for another first-round win.

Should Mujtaba beat Northcutt, not only would he further Pakistan’s relevance in MMA —he’ll also be on the radar of lightweight contenders, currently ruled by ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee.

Northcutt will join ONE Flyweight World Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes when they complete their trilogy in the main event of ONE’s debut on U.S. soil.
