The Civil Aeronautics Board said Friday fuel surcharge for airlines will remain unchanged in December
because of lower jet fuel prices.
CAB executive director Carmelo Arcilla said the fuel surcharge level for Dec. 1 to 31 would be
maintained at Level 8.
Under Level 8 of the new passenger fuel surcharge matrix, airlines are allowed to collect a fuel
surcharge of P253 to P787 for domestic flights and P835.05 to P6,208.98 for international flights.
The CAB said for that cargo fuel surcharge, airlines are allowed to charge P1.30 to P3.80 per kilogram
for domestic flights under Level 8 and P4.29 to P31.92 per kg. for international flights.
“Airlines wishing to impose or collect fuel surcharge must file its application with CAB on or before the
effectivity period, with fuel surcharge rates not exceeding the above-stated level,” Arcilla said.
AirAsia Philippines said the CAB decision to retain the fuel surcharge at Level 8 this December is a
welcome development for both passengers and the airline itself.
“This initiative helps all airline companies to cushion the effects of the volatile fuel pricing and the
weakening value of the peso versus the US dollar,” the airline said.
