Mayor John Rey Tiangco, together with the city council, led the awarding of 2022 One Barangay One Product (OBOP) winners and the blessing of two dump trucks.
Brgy. Tangos North bagged the top OBOP award with their kakaning tibok-tibok. They received P30,000 cash prize which will be used as additional production capital.
Brgy. Navotas West got P25,000 for placing second with their tuna chips, and Brgy. Tanza 1 received P20,000 for being third with their mushroom farming project.
The OBOP entries were judged according to originality (10%), marketability (30%), taste/quality (30%), and actual presentation of products (30%).
Other entries included potato crab ball of Brgy. Tanza 2, Chinese kikiam of Brgy. Tangos South, relyenong bangus of Brgy. San Roque, tocihong of Brgy. Daanghari, and longganisang hubad of Brgy. San Jose.
Likewise included were crab siomai of Brgy. San Rafael Village, fish empanada of Brgy. North Bay Blvd. South (NBBS) Proper, shrimp tempura of Brgy. NBBS Dagat-dagatan, and various souvenir products from Brgy. NBBS Kaunlaran.
Also in the list were fish longganisa from Brgy. Bagumbayan North, macrame plant hanger from Brgy. Bagumbayan South, bagoong from Brgy. Bangkulasi, sukang silangan from Brgy. Navotas East and puto fish pao from Brgy. Sipac-Almacen.
“Navotas is rich in raw materials that can be utilized to produce new and innovative products. We encourage Navoteños to use and make the most out of these resources,” Tiangco said.
Meanwhile, the city government also purchased additional trucks to increase garbage collection efficiency and strengthen its sustainable waste management program.
Navotas also recognized city government offices and member agencies that collectively worked and earned various awards and distinctions recently.
In October and November this year, the city bagged eight citations in the 2022 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards from the Department of the Interior and Local Government-NCR and two from the Bureau of Local Government Finance.
Navotas also received recognition from the Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development, and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development-NCR.
