A delegation of 30 businessmen from Sri Lanka organized by the Sri Lanka[1]Philippines Business Council (SLPBC) led by its President, Ravi De Silva, together with the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE) led by its Chairman, Dimuth Silva, met with peers in the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) to explore possible partnerships in trade and investments.
Their visit was an offshoot of the attendance of His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Sri Lanka, at the 55th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank Board of Governors held recently in Manila.
The delegation represented a microcosm of thriving businesses in Sri Lanka from logistics, construction, electronics, Information and Communications Technology, garments, food, agriculture, tourism, transportation and energy sectors. “We have so many complementarities on which we can work. This is Asia’s century for growth and so many opportunities have sprung up with the pandemic like new value chains, new industries and businesses, and new consumer patterns,” said Her Excellency Shobini Gunasekera, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Philippines .
The meeting with FFCCCII was arranged by Michael Chen, Chairman of the Philippines – Sri Lanka Business Council, who expressed confidence that the initiative would result in many positive outcomes.
