Perpetual Help flashed top form to smother San Sebastian College, 25-17, 25-17, 25-19, as the Altas stayed in the hunt for the Pool B top spot in the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge at the Paco Arena in Manila on Sunday.
Louie Ramirez put up an 11-attack, three-block performance while coming through with seven excellent receptions and six digs, and Michael Medilla and Joshua Zareno added eight and six markers, respectively, for the Altas, who rebounded from a previous loss to close out their group stage campaign on a 4-1 slate.
But Perpetual still need to wait for the Ateneo-UP result later in the day to determine its ranking heading to the next round. A UP win will net the Las Piñas-based squad the top spot.
John Christian Enarciso helped anchor Perpetual’s straight-set romp with 16 excellent sets while scoring three points.
“Redemption. Kasi galing kami sa pagkatalo, so nag-training kami kahapon. Talagang pinagplanuhan namin kung ano ‘yung gagawin namin para mas maganda ‘yung maging performance ng mga bata because ‘yung previous game namin sobrang pangit ng laro namin,” said Altas assistant coach Macky Carino, who took over from head mentor Sammy Acaylar.
“Sa game namin, talagang nakabawi kami. Sobrang ganda ng nilaro ng mga bata, at least sana ma-maintain namin ‘yung pinakamataas na standing dito sa group namin,” he added.
Joshua Espenida led the Golden Stags with nine points and four excellent digs while Kyle Angelo Villamor had nine as well on eight attacks and a block.
