Love is a strong emotion that inspired numerous works of art in various fields, like visual, musical, or written. For years, people have recorded the beauty and complexity of love through several mediums. Original Pinoy Music (OPM) is no exception in demonstrating the different facets of love, from when people have butterflies in their stomachs to when they get their hearts broken.

Wish 107.5 and KDR Music took the concert scene to the next level by combining various art forms, such as film and music, in one night. The result was nothing short of breathtaking, as each medium created a cohesive story that highlighted the relevance of unconditional love. Most importantly, how forgiveness and grief are often intertwined with love.

A short film starring Ritz Azul was the highlight of the night. As Vanessa, Azul explored common yet relatable scenarios in love, especially the what-ifs in the relationships around us. Joining Azul as her love interests in the short film are Joshua Dioniso and Arnold Reyes.

While the short film already tackles the nuances of love, the performances from well-loved OPM artists pulled the audience’s heartstrings at The Theatre at Solaire.

Singer-songwriter Nyoy Volante joined the roster of performers that night. He sang some of his hit songs, including “Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko,” which is a fan favorite that made the audience nostalgic and bring the kilig vibes from the harana-like ballad. His performance spoke volumes about the happiness love brings to people, along with other basic emotions.

Volante, who’s well-accustomed to the local concert scene, interacted with the fans throughout his set. He shared his own kind of love that night by going up to the fans, giving hugs, and allowing their voices to be heard.

Meanwhile, December Avenue, the five-piece indie pop/alternative rock band from Manila, brought a different perspective to love, one that’s filled with longing and hopefulness. The band performed “Bulong” and “Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-Ibig” to encourage the audience that there’s hope in love, even if time sometimes hinders its progress.

The audience seem to resonate with the message and sound of December Avenue as they became more lively when the band took to the stage.

Other OPM performers during the Wish Date 4 concert include Mark Michael Garcia, Peniel, Kimberly Baluzo, Plethora, and The Bradz. All were equally exceptional artists who each gave their take on love.

These performers not only depicted love from different angles but also brought together audiences from different age groups to enjoy a night of artistry. Some of them even sang classic OPM love songs that many Filipinos know by heart.

It was a remarkable night filled with treats for the senses and a lesson on love worth remembering.

The Wish Date concert series continues to prove that the concert scene has a wide range of potential that artists can use to showcase their talents in nearly every field. Catch the live streaming of the Wish Date Concert on November 13, Sunday, at 7:00 p.m. on the KDR Music House Youtube channel.
