The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) honored its eleven awardees for the triennial event on Oct. 25, 2022.
Nine of the awardees received their citations in person: Ani Almario (Education/Entrepreneurship), Rubilen Amit (Sports), Dr. Pia D. Bagamasbad (Molecular Biology), Dr. Beverly L. Ho (Medicine/Public Health), Dr. Erika Fille Legara (Data Science), Ana Patricia Non (Community Service), Anna Rosario Oposa (Marine Ecology Conservation), Gina Romero (Women Empowerment through ICT) and Dr. Aletta T. Yniguez (Marine Science).
Two of the awardees Keisha A. Mayuga (Transport Planning) and Pia M. Ranada (Investigative Journalism) are out of the country pursuing higher studies. Their awards were received by family members.
TOWNS President Ces Orena-Drilon thanked San Miguel Corporation’s Ramon Ang for his wholehearted support of the year-long 2022 TOWNS Search.
The distinguished panel of judges was headed by Chief Justice of the Philippines Alexander Gesmundo, who attended the awarding ceremonies. The other judges were Rogelio L. Singson (president of the Management Association of the Philippines), Dr. Eugenio Jose F. Ramos (President/CEO of Medical City), Senen C. Bacani (former Secretary of the Department of Agriculture) and TOWNS members Atty. Lilia B. de Lima, Dr. Esperanza I. Cabral and Orena-Drilon.
TOWNS performing artists Celeste Legaspi, Rachelle Gerodias and Karla Gutierrez sang with young guest singer Esang De Torre. Floy Quintos wrote and directed the TOWNS Awards Ceremonies held at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati.
