Data Lake Inc., a company of businessman Henry Sy Jr. and Anthony Almeda, signed an agreement with SpaceX’s Starlink to help bring the service to businesses and government organizations in the Philippines, making the company the first Starlink integrator in the country and the first in Southast Asia.
“The Philippines is an archipelago, and connecting our country to the wider world often requires extensive infrastructure. With the largest constellation of satellites on orbit, Starlink is a flexible service uniquely capable of providing high-bandwidth, reliable internet to the Philippines, even in times of natural disaster,” said Data Lake chairman Anthony Almeda.
“We are excited to help bring this industry-leading technology to the country. Connectivity is critical in today’s modern age, and Starlink will help further Data Lake’s goal of sustainable and equitable economic development throughout the Philippines,” said Data Lake vice chairman David Tanael.
“Starlink achieves game-changing connectivity in hard-to-reach, remote areas on land, at sea, and in the air,” said SpaceX vice president of Starlink sales Jonathan Hofeller. “We look forward to making the service available in the Philippines in the coming months, and we’re grateful to those who have aided in our ability to connect everyday people, businesses, and government entities.”
