Edward Kho, an assistant professor at the University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics, is the new secretary general of the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association.
PATAFA president Terry Capistrano on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Kho, who was the marketing and communications director of the association during the time of Dr. Philip Ella Juico as president.
Kho was previously named as an executive officer last August 3 by Capistrano, replacing Engr. Noel Silva.
He recently returned to the country from Greece following the completion of his Masters degree in Olympic Studies and Management at the International Olympic Academy.
“With the appointment of Mr. Edward Kho as the new Sec Gen, PATAFA can focus on moving forward to continue all the athletics development programs that have been ongoing over the years,” said Capistrano.
PATAFA is preparing for a busy season next year, with the Southeast Asian Games just around the corner (May 2023).
After that, there will be the Asian Championships in July, the World Championships in August and the Asian Games in September.
On Sunday, the PATAFA, in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission, will finally resume its grassroots athletics program, the PATAFA Weekly Relays.
The PATAFA has is back after a two-year hiatus due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
