Former Senate president Vicente “Tito” Sotto is set to become the next president of the Philippine Bowling Federation.
The 73-year-old Sotto will replace, Olivia Bong Coo, also a decorated bowler.
Coo is stepping down after she was appointed as one of the commissioners of the Philippine Sports Commission.
Multi-titled Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno was supposed to land the post. But Nepomuceno is busy taking care of their family’s business and declined.
The PBF is set to convene and discuss Sotto’s new role next week.
Sotto, a multi-awarded bowler himself, is currently the chairman of the PBF.
He recently lost in his recent bid in the vice presidential elections.
The 74-year-old Coo, who collected a total of 78 medals won in regional and world competitions during her time as a national athlete, is expected to assume her new position once Palace officials have finalized their list of new officials for the PSC.
