Negros Oriental Third District Rep. Arnie Teves is throwing his support to Filipino visual artists in the country in a bid to resuscitate the struggling industry.
Teves, who graced the opening of the Obra Maestra group’s headquarters, which is seen as a haven for Filipino visual artists, assured members of the group of his backing when they need it the most.
“I have always had a soft spot for the arts and I believe that we need to help our local artists, especially our painters in visual arts,” said Teves. “Rest assured that we will provide them the support they need.”
Obra Maestra is a group that encourages local artists to publish their work in exhibits and on social media to help them promote their crafts.
The group is also known in the art world for its activities like “Art Reach” which seeks to reach out to less fortunate artists and those who were serving sentences in penitentiaries in the country.
