Canadian-born Jasmine Paguio took the risk to leave her family in Toronto to pursue her childhood dreams of acting and becoming a beauty queen in the Philippines. The 23-year-old, pre-law student at York University is one of the 40 contestants in the ongoing Miss Philippines Earth 2022.
“Some may call it risky, but I believe the worst is the risk not taken, where I look back in my life and regret not pursuing what I dreamt about as a child,” said the aspiring AMP-ABS-CBN Star Magic member.
“I’m taking up law and if given a chance, I’d like to help legislate and introduce law on environmental protection, I would like to focus on the total eradication of plastics in the environment,” Paguio said at a recent meet-and-greet event.
Paguio is preparing for the finals under the guidance of beauty-queen maker Rodgil Flores and is being managed by Rams David of Artist Circle.
The 5-foot-6 beauty won as daily and weekly finalist in It’s Showtime’s Sexy Babe 2022 last March. A dead ringer for Maja Salvador, Paguio said she would like to portray the role of superwoman Darna if given the chance.
“Now that I’ve moved here in the Philippines, I hope to reconnect more with my roots and learn more about our Filipino culture and traditions. I’m just so grateful and honored to be representing the Filipino community of Toronto, Canada,” said the aspiring actress with roots in San Pablo City.
Miss Philippines Earth 2022, with its theme focusing on the protection and preservation of fauna in the Philippines, will have its Coronation Night on August 6 in Coron, Palawan.
