Taguig restarts BOSS program for tax season

The Taguig City government has relaunched its Business One-Stop Shop program where entrepreneurs and business establishment owners can process registration and renewing licenses until Jan. 20.

Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano said BOSS is a single destination where entrepreneurs can process their business registrations and renew business licenses with the help of accommodating City Hall personnel.

Through this initiative, Cayetano said, the processes are streamlined to ensure the efficient and convenient processing of documents for businesses. He said business owners don’t need to start the year with the stress of going to different places to get different permits.

The city chief executive said the local government gathered in this yearly event all the departments concerned in giving business licenses and permits.

Without weekend break, BOSS is held simultaneously at the Taguig City Hall Auditorium and at the 9th floor of the City Hall Satellite Office in SM Aura, from Jan. 4 until Jan 20, from 8 am. to 5 pm.

Entrepreneurs may enjoy onsite a free massage, food and refreshments, all while waiting for their documents to be processed. Tokens like umbrellas and personalized tumblers will also be awarded to the first 100 taxpayers.

Business owners are encouraged to go to BOSS early to avoid the lines and enjoy hassle-free transactions.

Furthermore, all taxpayers are advised to pay their taxes early to evade incurring penalties: a surcharge of 25 percent for failure to file or pay business tax and an additional 2 percent penalty per month due to delay.

“Taxes are the lifeblood of the city’s programs and social services,” said Cayetano.

“The collected business tax translates into social services. The more the city can collect, the more social services we can render to Taguigeños,” the mayor added. These services include the door-to-door delivery of medicines, scholarship assistance, among others.

Taguig has received a Blue Certification Award from the Office of the Ombudsman for its streamlined frontline services, and an excellent rating from the Civil Service Commission for its compliance with Republic Act No. 11032, also known as the Anti-Red Tape Act.

The City is currently home to top corporations, embassies, and government offices. New hotels, educational institutions, and shopping malls have also sprung in recent years within the fast-growing business districts of Bonifacio Global City and ARCA South.
