Taguig cites LSB for outstanding achievements

The Taguig City government has cited a local school board (LSB) for its significant programs and accomplishments in school year 2021-2022 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Taguig LSB office shared the department’s achievements for the school year 2021-2022 during the weekly flag-raising ceremony held at the city hall grounds on Monday.

LSB officer in-charge Dr. Natividad Jimenez said that Taguig was among the cities that implemented limited face-to-face classes, with the approval from the Department of Education.

Jimenez said selected pupils from kindergarten to sixth grade are attending classes in their schools as a precaution to limit interactions due to COVID-19.

Other students are still attending online and modular learning classes.

Based on DepEd’s Tele-Aral Program, eligible teachers conduct online lessons depending on students’ academic needs like Math, English, Science. They tutor students online with a maximum of ten (10) students per class.

Tele-Aral teachers receive P25,000 a month and other benefits from the city, while non-eligible teachers are given P12,500 monthly.

The city government has also turned over the following seven new school buildings equipped with air-conditioned classrooms, elevators, basketball courts, and roof decks.

Those are Tipas Elementary School Annex, Taguig Science High School, R.P. Cruz Elementary School, and C.P. Tiñga District 1; and Cardones Elementary School, Tanyag Elementary School, and Gat. Andres Bonifacio Elementary School in District 2.

Even amid the pandemic, the LSB made it possible for students to receive complete sets of free school supplies, which include uniforms, shoes, bags, notebooks, and blended learning modules at the start of the school year.

Natividad said that face-to-face graduations are still not allowed.

According to the DepEd’s school calendar, SY ‘21-’22 will end on June 24, and the commencement exercises to be held from June 27 to July 2, 2022.
