More opportunities are presenting itself for many talented basketball talents.

Batangas showed depth as its bench contributed 73 points against only 24 from its Marikina counterparts.

Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League president Kenneth Duremdes said this as the organization formalized a yearlong partnership with OKBet, a multi-industry company, which provides leisure, entertainment and gaming solutions.

“We have been gone for two years. We are after the welfare of the players here,” said Duremdes following a signing agreement with OKBet representative, Atty. Victoria Gilera at Okada Manila in Parañaque City.

The company will now assume the title sponsorship of the MPBL, which now has an ongoing fourth season that started last April 25.

Three of 22 participating teams will also be backed by OKBet, namely the Marikina Shoemasters, the Gensan Warriors and the Sarangani Marlins.

“This partnership with OKBet is an opportunity for the league, which from the start, wants to give players a chance to show their talents,” added Duremdes.

So far, the Sarangani Marlins are in the lead with their fourth straight win, tied with the Bacolod Bingo Plus and the Batangas Embassy Chills.

Meanwhile, Batangas City Embassy Chill pulled away in the fourth quarter before coasting along to beat Marikina, 99-93, late Saturday and gain a share of the lead in the MPBL at the Batangas City Coliseum.

Now being coached by Cholo Villanueva, Batangas appears ready to make another title-run, the way the Athletics did in the MPBL’s inaugural season in 2018.

Other games saw Imus Bandera subdue the Manila S

tars, 97-91, in overtime and Rizal Golden Coolers hand the skidding Pampanga Giant Lanterns another beating, 76-65.

Manila still fell to 1-4.
