Youth Empowerment online sports summit set

From the creators of the sports empowerment platform The Goal Diggers PH, sports marketing organization XMPLR is launching the Youth Empowerment Through Sports (YES) Summit, a two-day virtual conference that aims to empower resilient Gen Z-ers to rise through the challenges of the post-pandemic world.

Kat Tan, more popularly known as the One-Armed Mamba in basketball circles, is one of the speakers expected to inspire the youth participants in the virtual summit.

As the first youth sports congregation of its kind in the country, the YES Summit is set to be staged virtually from June 4 to 5, where student-athletes, leaders, and educators will be given access to some of the country’s most prominent sports figures with the goal of empowering the youth with inspiration and guidance to prepare them for the challenges of the new normal.

“After two years of putting their lives on hold, our youth is faced with pandemic-borne challenges that can hinder them from tapping their potential and finding opportunities to thrive in the real world,” said XMPLR’s Chief Sports Advocate Robbie de Vera.

For two days, the YES Summit will feature six speakers from different backgrounds as they inspire, empower and engage participants with their real-life experiences and advice.

Day 1 of the event will spotlight the importance of resilience as “The One-Armed Mamba” Kat Tan will share insights coming from her own experiences.

Meanwhile, SMART Sports Head Jude Turcuato will talk about the value of sports in and beyond the court. Filipino-American basketball coach Hernando Planells will share the importance of self-management.

The second day will focus on empowerment as registered psychologist, professor and head of the Philippine Sports Commission’s Sports Psychology unit Dr. Karen Trinidad, will open with the importance of mental health.

Sports retail tycoon and athlete Toby Claudio, President of Toby’s Sports will provide tips on how to be an elite athlete in and beyond sports with the importance of habits, while five-time Philippine Basketball Association and Gilas coach Chot Reyes will speak about future-fit leadership.

Registration for the YES Summit is free. For more information, like and follow The Goal Diggers PH page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheGoalDiggersPH/.
