Vice President-elect Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), the ruling regional party in Davao Region, dominated the 2022 elections with the majority of its candidates elected into office.
This year’s elections recorded 233 winning HNP members from 412 candidates.
One of the proclaimed winners was Davao Occidental’s Lone District Rep. Claude Bautista, the HNP’s president. The first-time congressman has served the province as two-termer governor since 2016.
Davao de Oro’s current Vice Governor Maricar Zamora has also successfully sealed her comeback as First District Representative.
Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy, who is the party’s treasurer, will serve as Davao de Oro’s sixth vice-governor. Davao del Norte was also able to get back to its feet after a dominating number in its electoral posts.
Former City Councilor Oyo Uy is now the province’s new vice-governor while his father, who currently sits as the Vice Governor, won Tagum City’s mayoral race.
Second District Representative Alan Dujali was re-elected for a second term.
Davao de Oro and Daveo del Norte both have seven HNP members out of 10 winning members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
HNP members and allies in the Nacionalista Party also dominated the elections in Davao del Sur and Davao Oriental.
Voters have also elected into office HNP members in Davao City.
Reelectionists Reps. Paolo Duterte (First District) Vincent Garcia (Second District) and Isidro Ungab (Third District) also won in their respective bid for a second term.
Sebastian Duterte also won as the city’s new mayor with a huge vote margin against his opponent.
HNP is Sara Duterte’s regional party established in 2018 which enjoined all provinces to pursue economic growth in the Davao Region.
