The defending champion Ateneo Blue Eagles fended off the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 90-81, in the third game of the Season 84 University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament opener on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Former junior standout Janjan Felicilda eked out 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists on his debut game with the National University Bulldogs, who got away with a 71-69 triumph over Adamson University Falcons in the second game.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University Tamaraws outworked the University of Santo Tomas, 76-51, in the first game.
