Overseas job applicants on Wednesday surged into the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) office in Paranaque City, prompting the agency to temporarily stop services for walk-in applicants as it found the volume more than they could handle.
In an advisory, the DFA said the apostille services were suspended as the applications surpassed the maximum level the office could handle in one day.
The department added that walk-in services for apostille applicants will resume today.
Long lines of overseas job applicants reportedly formed outside the DFA Office of Consular Affairs at the Aseana Business Park as early as Tuesday night to have their documents processed.
But the DFA reminded the applicants that there was no need for them to queue up late into the night.
“We admit applicants and provide them numbers starting at 7 a.m. There is no need to line up at the DFA-Aseana late at night,” the DFA said.
The agency also advised applicants to consider going to other DFA offices for the processing of their documents.
The consular offices that accept walk-in applicants for apostille services are: NCR West (150 applicants); NCR East (100 applicants); Pampanga (80 applicants); NCSouth (150 applicants); CO Iloilo (60 applicants); NCR Northeast (80 applicants); La Union (50 applicants); Davao (90 applicants); Cebu (100 applicants); and Cagayan de Oro (37 applicants).
