Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas has entered into a global partnership with FIBA 3×3, with the ultimate mission of bringing the Philippines to the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Chooks-to-Go president Ronald Mascarinas announced the partnership on Monday, together with Ignacio Soriano, head of FIBA 3×3 Events and Partnership at the Crown Plaza Galleria Hotel in Quezon City.
“We are truly honored to be given the privilege as global partner, especially in Southeast Asia. We had to innovate in our business last year and now, we are in a position to support the advocacy of 3×3 basketball as an Olympic sport,” said Mascarinas.
Ignacio said he is honored to be part of the partnership that will spur the development of 3×3 basketball in this part of the world.
The partnership involves the Philippines’ hosting of major 3×3 masters events, where Olympians will be seeing action, the Superquest and participation of the PH team in the World Tour.
Precious points will be at stake in all the events.
“The best is yet to come,” added Soriano, who guaranteed that the Chooks-to-Go logo will all be included in all FIBA 3×3 platforms in social media, digital channels, website and all major tournaments.
Mascarinas said the Philippines is currently ranked no. 31 in the world and he is aspiring to get the team to the Top 4.
“It’s going to be difficult but we will buckle down trying,” said Mascarinas, adding this will be done by holding weekly tournaments locally and participating in FIBA tournaments.
More than anything else, Chooks has formed a national pool that will be sent to world no.1 Serbia in April. The team will then compete in two Manila World Masters in Manila and Cebu.
The initial five-man pool, led by head coach Aldin Ayo, was also introduced.
“Pressure has been a part of our profession. We are being patient, we are now able to practice daily. We are honored to be part of this,” said Ayo.
Joining him are assistant coaches Mark Yee and Chico Lanete, and players Mike Harry Nzeusseu, Zac Huang, Mark Tallo, Dennis Santos and Fil-Canadian Brandon Ramirez.
“I’m excited to return after two years. We are practicing hard and we are committed 100 percent,” said Tallo.
