Six people were injured in a training aircraft crash early Thursday morning in Iba, Zambales, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.
The plane, a Rockwell Commander 685 or Aero Commander 685 was owned and operated by Sentinel Logistic Air Management, and was used for test flights.
It reportedly dived in shallow waters off Barangay Sto. Rosario, Iba at about 7:10 a.m. yesterday.
The CAAP withheld the names of the victims pending notification of relatives.
The agency, said those hurt consisted of student pilots, air marshals, and the pilot.
CAAP information officer Eric Apolonio said the victims were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard and local fishermen who also brought them to the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital.
Apolonio said the CAAP sent Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board personnel Col. Rommel Ronda and Ralph Fango to look into the accident and determine the cause of the crash.
Earlier on, another training aircraft crash landed in Davao Oriental, injuring flight instructor Capt. Manuel Nierra II and student pilot Jeremiah Agonia.
The victims were taken to the Mati Provincial Hospital for treatment of head and body injuries.
CAAP reports showed that the Cessna-150 aircraft owned by the Mactan Aviation Tech Center, Inc. went down in Barangay Don Martin Marundan in Mati.
