With summer officially upon us, Filipinos are slowly starting to prepare for their time on the beach. Among the items on our to-do lists, along with planning the perfect summer getaway with our loved ones, is making sure that our bodies are ready for their time under the sun.

For the past two years, most of us became homebodies because of the lockdown protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And aside from having a lot of time on our hands, some of us gained weight for several reasons. Nothing wrong with that since our bodies change according to our lifestyles, hormones, and more.
Still, we all want to look our best when we spend time on the beach.
The first thing we need to remember before going on the journey to achieve our ideal beach body is that dedicating ourselves to a specific diet or exercise regimen takes time and effort from us. While there are several quick get fit diets and supplements, the best results come from diet and exercise, and it’s not always instant.
Getting our bodies ready for summer doesn’t mean we have to compromise our overall physical health. After all, the ideal body we can flaunt this summer is a healthy one that glows and thrives under the summer sun.

Avoid skipping meals because these are not the answer to weight loss. Instead, it promotes an unhealthy relationship with food. Since dieting helps in getting our dream body for the summer, try consuming natural food rather than processed ones, like those that come in packets, because they are generally low in nutrition and high in unwanted calories such as fat and sugar.
Examples of food that are suitable to consume for a weight loss diet are lean meats, low-fat dairy products, fruits, vegetables, and whole-wheat carbs, to name a few.
Staying hydrated also has several benefits for our bodies to help them stay healthy. For starters, water flushes out toxins and curbs hunger, which is why doctors and nutritionists advise us to drink water when we wake up, before meals, and several other times throughout the day.
Water also prevents bloating by aiding our metabolic system by promoting efficient functions.
If you’re looking for a more curated experience when preparing your body for the summer, explore various fitness apps available online or consult with personal fitness trainers on how to best achieve your body goals one step at a time.
Once you’ve begun training, remember to do everything balanced and moderated. Avoid over-training your muscles in your abdomen, chest, and arms because these can cause postural imbalances. Work on every part of your body, including your legs, glutes, and more, to promote a well-toned body all around.

Although we want to look good this summer, our health should still be our top priority. But most importantly, we should also learn to love and celebrate our bodies no matter their shape or size. And this summer is an appropriate time to flaunt our bodies while basking in the sun, sea, and sand.
