On Monday, February 7, raw emotion was captured on camera when Manila Mayor Isko Moreno burst into tears while handing out housing units to the beneficiaries of the Manila Tondominium Project in Vitas, Tondo Manila, a poor community in Manila where he grew up.
It was a humanizing moment for the Mayor as the Tondominium was his first completed vertical housing project, and the event brought back memories of his youth when he lived in Tondo with his porter father and mother who was a laundress.

“Nangarap din ako nang sariling mauuwian, umulan o bumagyo, magkaroon ng delubyo, magdildil man kami ng asin, at least yung bahay ay amin,” Moreno said to the Manila families who had been given units to look after their new home.
Tondominium has two 15-storey towers, each offering 168 two-bedroom units. Each unit has an area of 44 square meters, two bedrooms, a dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and living room. Meanwhile, the building tower Tondominium II, is currently under construction.
Housing has been Moreno’s primary objective as Mayor for poor Manileños who deserve decent housing as he vowed to replicate this to the entire country.
Moreno said this would be a significant part of his national program if he were elected president in May 2022.
