Citicore Power, a Community-Focused Renewable Energy Company, empowers Filipino communities through innovative solar energy generation systems. One of the pioneers and leaders in promoting clean energy in the Philippines, Citicore designs, develops, and operates its plants to achieve optimum land use and energy output, while ensuring a minimal impact to the environment by saving more than 230,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, and towards its vision of a Net Zero Carbon future.
A vertically integrated renewable energy company, Citicore provides end-to-end solutions across the entire value chain, from conceptualization, development, construction up to operations and maintenance. The company owns and operates eight solar power plants strategically located in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, with a combined generating installed capacity of 163 Megawatts – one of the largest in the country.
As part of our initiatives to uplift the lives of our communities, we recognize the essentiality of food production and energy generation. With the scarce farmlands amid growing food demand from increasing population, Citicore pioneered in the country the implementation of a global initiative that integrates agricultural harvests with solar farming, that aims to promote multi-land use to ensure food and energy security in the future.
Through the innovative solution, Agrivoltaic Technology, Citicore develops land for its plants and facilities, while cultivating partnerships with local farmers and cooperatives by allowing them to grow high value crops right in our solar farms and sell their harvest to consumers. This is at the heart of Citicore’s Agro-Solar initiative, which harnesses and makes the most of the sun and land resources, integrating solar power generation with agricultural crop production to provide alternative yet sustainable livelihood to small farmers. This also ensures that farmers and other stakeholders are not displaced by the race for renewable energy, but rather nurtured and supported, as they remain integral to the country’s economic growth and development.
Citicore’s AgroSolar project is proving that solar power generation, crop production, and social development can go hand-in-hand to support energy, food, and economic sustainability.
As we increasingly employ renewable energy technologies and raw materials for our pipeline of projects, we are also cognizant of the impact of rising volumes of decommissioned Photovoltaic (PV) panels and PV waste streams to the environment vis-à-vis our responsibility to preserve and care for our planet.
Citicore is addressing this challenge by constantly exploring new and efficient methods of upcycling these items, in an eco-friendly manner, to promote proper waste management and recycling by converting these materials into various eco-infra projects and advocating the co-existence of innovation with environmental stewardship.
Under this initiative, discarded and End-of-Life (EOL) solar panels are re-assembled to build EcoSheds – used for multi-purpose roofs and covers for meeting halls, parking and waiting areas, walkways as well as classroom dividers and community tables. With the help of our host communities all over the Philippines, we hope to build more eco-infra projects, through environmentally-sound power sources and discarded raw materials, that will benefit more people sustainably.
