Uniteam vows post-Odette reconstruction

As supporters of the BBM-Sara UniTeam are still busy in their massive relief operations, presidential candidate and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Sunday assured survivors of Typhoon Odette in Visayas and Mindanao that he will help them rebuild their damaged communities.

Marcos said he sympathizes with the people who lost their homes and his main concern at the moment is to help them get back on their feet.

“I promise you that we will have reconstruction, we will give all the help we need. Don’t lose hope and don’t be discouraged because many people are always ready to help you,” he said.

He also thanked all the volunteers and donors who responded to his earlier call to immediately deliver aids to the typhoon victims.

“We have been able to bring relief goods to various places but it is a little different here in Palawan because the need used to be food. We brought rice. We brought food, finished slippers. Then what is being demanded now is construction materials for people to fix their houses so that is what we are trying to give back here,” Marcos said.

While the arrival of the ship carrying the aid to the typhoon victims in Palawan was a little bit delayed due to inclement weather, Marcos explained that it did not hinder his plans and commitment to bring in the necessary construction materials in an effort to help those who were displaced during the typhoon.

For her part, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio guaranteed the distribution of relief goods in the affected areas will continue, including the construction materials which the UniTeam hopes to start pouring in.

“We provided rice and cash for Puerto Princesa City, the provincial government of Palawan, and various provinces. The sources of our donation are different. There are some from the governors. Some are from the provincial government of Davao Occidental. From the city government of Davao, from Lakas-CMD and from Bongbong Marcos,” the presidential daughter said.
