In its final episode for 2021, Philippine Sports Commission web series Rise Up! Shape Up! is set to name the winners of its Zumbarangay Pilipinas: Solo On Cam Dance Challenge, airing on December 25.
From over 400 entries submitted since the call for entries in April, the PSC shortlisted 25 entries from the four categories: Women Frontliner category; Women Open category, LGBTQ category, and Kids and Young category.
“A strong body and mind are vital to every Filipino. We hope that this program encourages the public to incorporate physical movement in their day-to-day lives,” said PSC Women in Sports oversight Commissioner Celia Kiram, who also thanked everyone who joined the program.
The lady commissioner added that the Zumbarangay official dance exercise ‘Igalaw-galaw Ating Katawan’ is a call for everyone to take up dancing, exercise, and movement to rise up, shape up and move our bodies for better health and improved quality of life.
The web series will also air the special performances from the Zumbarangay Pilipinas judges world-class dancesport athletes Stephanie Sabalo and Michael Angelo Marquez, and international dance choreographer Chips Beltranand, as well as the dance challenge finalists from the Awards and Gala Dinner held at Subic Travelers Hotel last December 9.
“We hope that the awareness opened by Zumbarangay Pilipinas that dancing is healthy, fun and therapeutic, will live on as everyone celebrates the end of the year and continues to cope with the pandemic,” concluded Kiram.
