Anti-graft charges readied vs DOTr

Lawyers for Commuter Safety and Protection on Friday said the group will file graft and corruption charges by next week against an official of the Transportation Department over the alleged irregularities on the issuance of the guidelines for the pilot implementation of motorcycle taxis.

“Right now, what LSCP is planning to do is to file necessary complaints against the erring public officials who claimed to be part of the TWG,” said lawyer Raymond Fortun, a member of LCSP, in a press briefing.

“[We are] in the process of filing an anti-graft… obviously all of those who participated in that kind of decision,” Fortun said, referring to the Revised General Guidelines for the Implementation of Motorcycle Taxis issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on December 19.

Fortun cited “very serious irregularities” in the process of selecting two new players for motorcycle taxis.

Under the guidelines, the LTFRB extended the pilot run from December 23, 2019 to March 23, 2020 with additional providers JoyRide and MoveIt.
