President Rodrigo Duterte postponed his scheduled events in Malalag and Padada towns in Davao del Sur on Thursday because he was not feeling well, according to his spokesman.

Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, however, assured the public that there was nothing to worry about the condition of the 74-year-old Chief Executive.

“It’s just ordinary. It’s just a 74-year-old not feeling well,” Panelo said in a press briefing.

“If you lack sleep, that’s natural. But after that, tomorrow, he will be okay,” he added.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, President Duterte’s former aide, said the President opted to rest in his hometown in Davao City.

The President would resume the event Friday, Go told Manila Standard in a Viber message.

This was not the first time Duterte canceled his public engagements due to sickness but the President himself has dismissed concerns about his health.

Duterte was last seen by the public on Monday during the wreath-laying rites in Davao City in commemoration of the 123rd year of Dr. Jose Rizal’s martyrdom.

He also visited the earthquake victims in M’lang, North Cotabato on that day. Afterwards, he attended the anniversary celebration of Cor Jesu College in Digos City, Davao del Sur.
