Thailand completed a double win in the men’s and women’s regu event of sepak takraw Tuesday, while the Philippines settled for a decent pair of podium finishes in the 30th SEA Games at the Subic Gym.
The Thais made short work of Vietnam 21-11, 21-13 to complete a 4-game sweep and bag the crown they had secured as early as last Monday with a similar 2-0 win over the host squad.
The Thailand women’s team also completed a sweep after drubbing the Filipinas 21-11, 21-10 to capture the crown they had in the bag early as yesterday afternoon. Vietnam and Malaysia settled for the silver and bronze, respectively.
In all, Thailand bagged three gold medals in the six-event sepak takraw competitions.
Malaysia finished second in the men’s regu event with a 21-9, 21-11 win over the Philippines.
The Filipinos settled for third, replicating the bronze medal finish of the women’s squad.
Overall, the Philippines won two gold medals and two bronze medals to finish second in the overall tally behind Thailand, a big improvement from the one-silver, one bronze finish back in the 2017 biennial meet in Kuala Lumpur.
The hosts last week reigned supreme in the men’s and women’s hoop events.
