There is no reason for the Duterte administration to be alarmed over her report on the government’s drug war, Vice President Leni Robredo said Sunday.
Robredo said she had decided to hold back her report in deference to the opening of the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Saturday.
“I just don’t know why their reaction is like that. Is it as if they are telling (me) that I am just threatening them? Why should I threaten them when I am just one, while they are too many?” she said.
“My recommendations are based on what I have found out about the operations on the illegal drugs campaign,” the Vice President added.
She said the report was “for the improvement of the campaign. I think those I have worked with would know that what I am doing is well-intentioned.”
On a radio program, Robredo broke her silence over President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to remove her as ICAD co-chairperson.
She junked false accusations against her that she was coordinating with the United Nations prosecutors to go against the President.
Robredo said her weekly reports to the President could dispute the allegations against her.Despite her removal from ICAD, Robredo said she would still transmit her third report to Malacañang and publicize her findings and recommendations as well.
“We are making these public because we want to be sure that they will read our recommendations,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Vice President, in her Twitter account, said she is proud to be Filipino, as she expressed support to Filipino athletes and the country during the opening ceremony of the 2019 SEA Games.
“Nakaka-proud maging Pinoy! Maraming salamat sa ating mga atleta, world champions, mga tapagtanghal, and to the everyone behind the #SEAGames2019 opening ceremony,” she tweeted.
“Ang dami nating maipagmamalaki bilang isang bansa — at pinakamalakas tayo kapag ang alab ng puso ay iisa #WeWinAsOne,” the Vice President added.
