Job seekers look beyond salary

Job seekers are no longer bound by their affinity to salaries, a survey by London-based global recruitment specialist Robert Walters found out in its Salary Survey 2020.

The survey which had over 400 Filipino companies as respondents, said career advancement, professional growth and even opportunities to travel abroad were key to staying on or looking for other jobs.

“Remuneration or salary is no longer the sole key motivator for professionals to stay in a job, with an increasing number of employees looking for career progression and learning and development opportunities,” Robert Walters Philippines director Monty Zujanani said.

He said new-generation job seekers, in general, were looking for opportunities for an upskill in their profession. Although competitive remuneration and benefits remained a top driver of employee satisfaction, 29 percent of those surveyed said they would change jobs for career progression.

This highlights that in order for companies to retain talent, they also need to show their commitment to the learning and development of their employees, the survey said.
