Events such as the International Chefs Day, which brings students and their families together each year, are opportunities to spread the advocacy. This year’s event theme was “How Healthy Food Works.”

The importance of choosing varied and nutritious options was the focus of the event’s opening remarks from Nestlé Professionals’ Chef Reg Mendoza.

Meanwhile, LTB Philippines Chefs Association’s Chef J Gamboa took the students through common ingredients and how they help keep a person healthy. The students then broke off into several groups, where chefs from the LTB Philippines Chefs Association, PYCC, and Nestlé Professionals taught them how to make healthy versions of fruit salad and noodles.

“You have to teach kids the right habits early on so that they can make healthy eating and healthy living a habit,” said Chef J Gamboa. “As chefs and culinary professionals, we feel that it is very important at the onset that people develop these habits.”
