The Davao Occidental Cocolife Tigers vented their ire on the Mindoro Tamaraws and scored a big 99-84 win to bounce back to life after absorbing a heartbreaking upset loss at home in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup second-round elimination at the Batangas State University Gymnasium in Batangas City recently.
King Tiger Mark Yee put on another sterling performance as he provided an early spark, along with veteran playmaker Bonbon Custodio to lead the team’s breakaway at 22-10 on a step-back triple by gunner Joseph Terso with a second remaining in the first quarter.
Yee posted his 33rd double-double in the league after scoring 25 points and hauling 16 rebounds, while issuing 3 assists to bring his team, owned by Dumper Party List Congresswoman Claudine Bautista and backed by Cocolife President Atty. José Martin Loon, FVP Joseph Ronquillo, AVP Rowena Asnan and SVP Franz Joie Araque, get a firmer grip on the top spot with a 16-3 record in the south division of the league organized by Senator MannyPacquiao.
“We set aside our heartbreaking home upset against Valenzuela in Davao City recently, stayed focused in our road game against Mindoro and bounced back,” said Davao Cocolife team manager Dinko Bautista” You heard the Tigers’ roar in Batangas.”
Davao coach Don Dulay used his vaunted run-and-gun formula as the Tigers seized control of the game and never let any uprising from the Mindorenos, who skidded to an 8-12 record.
