Mediko.Ph, the Philippines’ latest and most ambitious online resource for medical information, has launched with the intention to provide Filipinos across the globe quick, accessible, and reliable knowledge about medical conditions and treatment options.
The website, which makes use of the Filipino language exclusively, is intended for a large portion of the Filipino netizen population who are more comfortable consuming content in Filipinorather than in English.
“We are very excited to finally launch the pilot version of this project,” says Glen Dimaandal, founder and CEO of Mediko.Ph. “We’ve always felt the need for a robust and credible health resource to be written in the Filipino language but no one seems to want to step up to the plate until now.”
“With Mediko.PH, we were able to pull together an experienced pool of researchers, content creators and medical professionals who are passionate about sharing the kind of knowledge that can bring a positive impact to the Philippine health situation,” he adds.
Dimaandal noted that the concept of Mediko.Ph is not entirely new as it draws inspiration from US-based health resource websites such as Mayo Clinic and WebMD.
However, the CEO adds that Filipinos are highly capable of creating similar online resources but written and formatted in a way that is tailor-fitted to the local population.
In its current state, Mediko.Ph offers comprehensive information on common medical conditions such as heart disease, cancer, STDs, tropical diseases and more.
In the near future, the website is set to deploy a daily news section as well as sections that provide information about medicines, medical procedures, local healthcare providers, and more.
