Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency director general Aaron Aquino on Monday took a swipe at Vice President Leni Robredo, saying he believes she would not succeed to solve the illegal drug trade should she accept the offer of President Rodrigo Duterte to lead the war on drugs.
In an interview at the CNN Philippines’ “The Source,” Aquino said “if you ask me, she will fail.”
He said the vice president lacks the experience to wipe out the illegal drug activity.
“She knows nothing about illegal drugs,” he added.
Aquino was appointed as PDEA chief in Sept. 2017, after spending more than three decades with the Philippine National Police.
“I have been in the PNP for 36 years. I have been in PDEA for over two years. It is only now that I became the director general that I have known what the real problem is about illegal drugs,” the PDEA chief said.
“The Vice President does not have that [knowledge]. She does not know anything about illegal drugs,” he added.
