The Quezon City government has vowed to get rid of fixers inside the city hall in line with the thrust of Mayor Joy Belmonte of good governance.

One of the 14-point executive agenda of Belmonte is to implement good governance, and eliminate corrupt officials and employees.

She lauded Business Permits and Licensing Department chief Margarita Santos for her strict compliance to weed out fixers, following the arrest of one Myline Rivero of Barangay Lourdes last Oct. 25.

“I am glad that we have set an example to show that illegal transactions are not allowed inside city hall. We will make it ensure that the arrested fixer would be held liable,” Belmonte said.

According to Santos, Rivero submitted a fake locational clearance dated July 29 when it conducted a post-evaluation of her application for a business permit.

Such clearance is one of the requirements in applying for a business permit.

Rivero has been charged with falsification of public documents before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

The city government also filed raps against two supposed employees of the Valenzuela City hall, identified as Catherine Brondo and Normita Dimalanta, whom Rivero pointed to as the source of her falsified documents in exchange for P50,000.

“We call on the public to furnish us with genuine copies of required documents and not to resort to fraud in applying for permits and other licenses,” the BPLD chief said.
