The City Government of Navotas, under Mayor Toby Tiangco’s leadership, has provided more Navoteños with medical and health services.
During Tiangco’s first 100 days in office, the city’s 11 health centers provided a total of 196,363 services and procedures.
These included 52,588 medical consultations; 7,330 immunizations for children and adults; treatment to 269 residents with tuberculosis; and 4,620 patient assessments for Philippine Package of Essential Noncommunicable Disease Interventions (PhilPEN).
Also included were 33,811 blood pressure monitoring; 5,664 pre- and post-natal check-up; 5,703 family planning services; 42,673 dental services; and others.
The city also conducted the 1st Persons with Disability Summit, which provided participants with free medical and dental services.
The Navotas City Health Summit, themed “Creating Synergies for Health Systems Strengthening,” was also held to acknowledge the support and participation of stakeholders in the health sector.
It was followed by a Barangay Health Summit where Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries, pregnant women, and other vulnerable groups were given seminars on healthy lifestyle.
“Healthy people are productive that is why we put premium in our preventive and curative health care programs and services. We believe that for Navoteños to have a better life, they should be well enough to pursue their goals and dreams,” the mayor said.
The Navotas City Hospital provided health services to 2,192 patients, including 652 live birth deliveries. Its subspecialty services were able to help 16,099 patients in the emergency room and 11,724 in the out-patient department.
Other hospital services and procedures granted to Navoteños included dental, 1,592; ultrasound, 530; x-ray, 3,100; and laboratory such as blood chemistry, clinical microscopy and serology, and blood bank services, 29,722.
The city is also in the process of expanding the hospital. The construction is now 40 percent complete and once done, the hospital’s capacity would double from 50 to 100.
Navotas was recently recognized as Best in Nutrition Program Effectiveness during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony conducted by the National Nutrition Council–National Capital Region.
The NNC-NCR noted that the city significantly reduced the prevalence of under and overnutrition among children under five years old and school children through the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition.
