‘Massacre’ suspect rushed to hospital

A top suspect in the Maguindanao massacre which left 32 journalists and several others dead was rushed to the hospital after he was diagnosed with cardiovascular disease secondary to cardiac dysrhythmia or abnormal heart beat.

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology spokesperson Chief Insp. Xavier Solda said Zaldy Ampatuan, a former governor of the Autonomous Region In Muslim Mindanao, is “in a stable condition now.”

A total of 58 people were killed in the Maguindanao massacre, which happened at the height of the filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2010 elections. It is considered one of the world’s worst election-related incidents of violence and one of the deadliest attacks against media practitioners.
