Vehicle sales rose 2.3% in September

Vehicle sales rose 2.3 percent in September to 31,820 units from 31,116 units a year ago, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association said in a joint report Tuesday.

Deliveries also went up 7.5 percent month-on-month from 29,599 units in August.

“CAMPI has expected this recovery coming into the last quarter of the year,” said CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez.

“September is traditionally the start of an upward trend in sales as the public begin to spend for the upcoming holiday season,” he said.

Total sales in the first nine months also increased 2.4 percent to 267,364 units from 261,161 units in the same period last year.

Data showed that despite the slight decline in sales of passenger cars, demand for AUVs, trucks, and buses remained positive.
