About 57 students who graduated from the University of Caloocan have received at least P5,000 in cash incentives from Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan.
“This is really intended for them. We were not able to give it to them before because of the election ban, but we still give it to them even as they have finished their graduation, the mayor said.
As this developed, Malapitan announced that the city government will soon start building the proposed University of Caloocan Bagong Silang Campus College of Engineering.
Four floors of the new building at the University of Caloocan Camarin Campus were inaugurated in August, the mayor said.
“All of this is for the development of our students as education is one of our priorities towards a more progressive city,” the mayor said.
Meanwhile, Malapitan has formally opened the fourth Arangkada Motorsiklo Festival in Caloocan City along 10th Avenue in Grace Park.
Organized and headed by the Caloocan City Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office and the Caloocan Cultural and Tourism Foundation, the celebration which was started at 8 a.m. was participated in by several motorcycle riders.
The yearly event aimed at showcasing the talent of the city’s residents as well as other participating teams from different areas cities in motorcycling and at same time improving the motorcycle industry of Caloocan which is dubbed as a “Motorcycle Capital” of the country, the mayor said.
A so-called “Festivaliwan” was held wherein motorcycle riders showed different motorcycle stunts and other abilities in motorcycling, concert, dancing by students from different schools in Caloocan, drag race, motor show, first aid course among others.
The Arangakada Festival is being celebrated every year to empower our motorcycle and tourism industry in the city, and open more opportunities to the public, Malapitan said.
