The City Government of Caloocan emerged again as a finalist in the search for the 2019 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit.

Caloocan City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan said that from 2015 to 2018, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has awarded them as being one of the Most Business-Friendly cities.

City Administrator Oliver Hernandez, who represented Malapitan, received the plaque of recognition last Wednesday evening at the PCCI Commerce and Industry Plaza McKinley Hill in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

“This honor we received proves that we are among the most progressive cities in the Philippines,” Mayor Oca said.

Under the leadership of Malapitan, the city government will continue initiatives and reforms in improving the delivery of service to the business community for the development of local economy and business sector.

The PCCI spearheads the annual search for the Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit Award to commend LGUs that have become successful in creating an environment that is conducive to business growth.

Meanwhile, Malapitan has formally opened the fourth Arangkada Motorsiklo Festival in Caloocan City on Saturday morning along 10th Ave. in Grace Park, Caloocan City.

Organized and headed by the Caloocan City Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office and the Caloocan Cultural and Tourism Foundation, the celebration started at 8 a.m. and saw dozens of motorcycle riders participate.

The yearly event is aimed at showcasing the talent of the city’s residents and other participating teams from different areas in motorcycling, and at same time improving the motorcycle industry of Caloocan, which is considered as the “Motorcycle Capital” of the country, the mayor said.

A so-called “Festivaliwan” was held where motorcycle riders showed different stunts and other abilities in motorcycling, plus a concert, dancing by students from different schools in Caloocan, a drag race, a motor show, and a first aid course, among other activities.

The Arangakada Festival is being celebrated every year “to empower our motorcycle and tourism industry in the city, and open more opportunities to the public,” Malapitan said.
