Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu on Wednesday led a technical inspection of Pasig River in response to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s call to clean it.
He vowed to get rid of informal settlers and go after polluters of the historic river.
Metro Manila Development Authority chairperson Danilo Lim and representatives of the Philippine Coast Guard joined Cimatu during the two-hour inspection tour of the river.
He noted several violations including the three-meter easement from the riverbanks.
“We have the authority to restore the three-meter easement, and MMDA and the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission are working on this,” he said.
The President appointed Cimatu to head the PRRC.
