More than 300 individuals have been arrested in Makati City during simultaneous police operations in line with the government’s crackdown against suspected drug dealers and other criminal elements.
Twenty-three of those were suspected drug traffickers and dependents who were arrested during police operations in different barangays of the city from Sept. 9 to 11.
Makati City police commander Col. Rogelio Simon said nine of the 23 suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Barangays Poblacion, Tejeros, Guadalupe Nuevo, Cembo, and East Rembo.
Recovered from the suspects were 10 tablets of suspected ecstasy worth P25,000, 55 sachets of suspected shabu; buy-bust money, shoulder bag, three cellphones, two wallets, a pair of dice, bet money, drug paraphernalia, glass tube with marijuana residue, and a lighter.
The suspects are now facing criminal charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
At least 47 other persons were caught for violating various crimes in the city from September 2 to 8.
Meanwhile, the authorities apprehended 294 people for violating local ordinances.
Of this number, 41 were caught smoking and drinking in public places while 107 minors were rescued in connection with curfew ordinance.
