Tan, Del Rosario lead Bowling World Cup top 16 finalists

Merwin Tan and Liza del Rosario rolled respectable rounds last Tuesday and yesterday to lead the remaining field of eight men and eight ladies in the Bowling World Cup nationals tomorrow at Paeng’s Eastwood Bowl.

Tan posted a 12-game series of 2640 pinfalls Tuesday at Superbowl for a 5060 total to pace legendary Paeng Nepomuceno, who scored 2424 for a 4959 total in the men’s division.

Del Rosario, one of Asia’s top campaigners, rolled a 10-game series of 2133 pnfalls yesterday at Superbowl to chalk up 4243 and keep her distance over 2017 BWC international champion Krizziah Tabora-Macatula, registered 2119 in 10 games and 4177 overall.

 Joining these four in tomorrow’s quarterfinal, semifinal and final matches are:

Men—Jayson Tubid, who tallied 4757 overall; Paulo Valdez, 4756; Benshir Layoso, 4714; Eric Aranez, 4674; RJ Bautista, 4664; and NiccoOlaivar, 4644.

Ladies—Rachelle Leon. 3826; Mades Arles,3824; Alexis Sy, 3812; Dyan Coronacion, 3810; Danielle Denise Lazo, 3752; and Rochelle Munsayac, 3577.

These 16 remaining bowlers will dispute the national title and the right to represent the Philippines in the BWC international event in Palembang, Indonesia on November 16 to 24 this year.

With their scores carried over, the top eight bowlers in each division will bowl another eight games, with the top four advancing to the semis.  The two winners will clash for the crown.
