If Gina “Conviction” Iniong had it her way, she would not have to wait long for her next walkout to the ONE Championship stage.
Iniong hopes to showcase her ever-improving game right in front of her compatriots when the promotion returns to Manila, Philippines for ONE: MASTERS OF FATE on 8 November.
For the six-time national wushu World Champion, there really is no place like home.
“I want to be included in this card and compete in front of our supporters,” Iniong said.
“I’m excited, especially with how good my last match turned out. I always want to test myself and showcase my best in my next fight.”
After she started her ONE Championship campaign on a high note, Iniong slowed down as she split her next four matches inside the ONE Circle.
However, in her last bout, the Filipina star showed her vintage form en route to a tough split-decision victory over Malaysian star Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan at ONE: CLASH OF LEGENDS in Bangkok, Thailand in February.
Although she has not competed for seven months, Iniong revealed that she has never stopped working on her craft.
After all, it pays to be ready.
“After Bangkok, I never stopped training. I was inspired with how I performed the last time, so I expect to get back in there soon,” Iniong shared.
“Whether there’s a scheduled bout or not, I have to be ready. The competition is very high, that’s why I should never stop learning and improving.”
“Conviction” knows that another impressive win could put her in the radar of a World Title shot, and Iniong is about to take every opportunity by the horns.
"I'm just eager to get back to the ONE Championship stage and continue where I left off. My goal has always been the same, to become a World Champion,” Iniong said.
“I always train hard and do my best, so whoever they’ll give me, I’ll come prepared.”
