Dr. Lim said that the annual Moon Festival, the eating and giving away of mooncakes represent happiness, thanksgiving and goodwill which the FFCCCII and the Filipino Chinese community hope to share to fellow countrymen all over the Philippines, in the same way the Chinese Lunar New Year and the eating of “tikoy” have now become part of Filipino lifestyle.

The Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival is Chinese civilization’s ancient harvest festival which is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese Lunar calendar, usually happening in late September or early October in the Gregorian calendar, and this date has the most beautiful full moon that night. This2019, the exact date of the Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Festival) is Sept. 13.

This FFCCCII luncheon was an advance celebration to thank the support of media for its economic and civic causes, also to help promote this ancient festival of mooncakes and thanksgiving in the Philippines.

FFCCCII is a business and civic federation of 170 Filipino Chinese chambers of commerce and diverse industry associations nationwide. Its numerous economic, socio-civic and cultural advocacies include the “Operation Barrio Schools” which donates public school buildings to poor rural regions, medical/dental missions, supporting Filipino Chinese fire volunteer brigades, undertaking disaster relief operations and many others.
