Local enforcers in Makati City apprehended a total of 32 illegally parked vehicles on Monday, in line with the city government’s intensified road clearing and anti-obstruction program.

Members of the city’s Public Safety Department conducted the operation in the areas of Pasong Tamo Street, Arnaiz Avenue, Jupiter Street, Burgos Street, J.P. Rizal Street and Urban Avenue.

The PSD is conducting the clearing operations daily on the directive of Mayor Abigail Binay to maintain orderliness and cleanliness and promote road discipline and obedience to traffic rules.

Mayor Binay ordered the intensified campaign against illegal parking, sidewalk vendors, and other road obstructions in the city in 2017.

She said the city government has taken a hard stance against disobedient motorists to restore order and discipline on the streets and respect for the law in the city.

“Mobility is a key factor to sustaining progress and development in our city. We are determined to use the full force of the law to effectively address traffic congestion caused by disobedient motorists and illegal vendors blocking roads and sidewalks,” said Binay.

The mayor also reiterated her call to residents and the riding public to report abusive and reckless drivers through the city’s official social media accounts, and give important details such as the plate number, type of vehicle and location.

Concerned citizens may send their complaints through My Makati Facebook page and Twitter accounts, @MakatiTraffic and @Mayora_Abby.

In the first year of the administration of Mayor Abigail Binay, the city government through PSD has recorded over 144,000 traffic violations, committed mostly by errant motorists and some by pedestrians.
