Vice President Leni Robredo has hit the Office of the President for its request of a P2.5-billion confidential and intelligence fund for 2020.
She questioned the “substantial” increase of President Rodrigo Duterte’s confidential and intelligence fund from P500 million in 2016.
“After reading it (request), I looked into its progression. I studied the progression from 2012 until 2016. The (amount of the) intelligence and confidential fund was just P500 million. Then now, is it P2.5 billion?” she asked.
“That was just three years ago. The increase is too much. So it would be better if… to erase any doubts, it is best that we understand it more,” she said.
The public must understand why there was an increase, she added.
The fund is discretionary, “no receipt no receipt,” she said.
