PH batters bounce back, routs HK, 7-1, in Asian tilt

The Philippines bounced back from 0-3 loss to Japan with a 7-1 stopping of Hong Kong yesterday in the 10th Baseball Federation of Asia Under-15 Championship from Aug. 16 to 25 in Shenzhen, China.

The 18-man Team Pilipinas picked up its first win in two games in the first round, according to Philippine Amateur Baseball Association chief Chito Loyzaga.

Team Pilipinas is composed of players coming five provinces.

Hong Kong went down to its second straight loss after absorbing a 0-18 setback at the hands of Chinese Taipei the other day.

So far, China leads the tournament after posting two straight wins, the first one a 5-2 beating of Pakistan. Later, China prevailed over Indonesia, 11-3.

The stint of Team Pilipinas will serve as a qualifier for the World Baseball Softball Confederation U-15 World Cup.

Filipino batters are ranked 33rd under the rankings of the 2018 WBSC.
